Get Control of SumTotal Testing

Testing your cloud learning software before deployment is essential to effective learning delivery. The stakes can be high — among the risks are dissatisfied users, failed audits, and damage to your organization’s reputation.

Pixentia employs a disciplined approach that ensures accurate, comprehensive evaluation and remedies for your business processes and user experience.

Testing Strategy

The first step in testing your learning software platform is to build your strategy—how, where, and when you will test, and what resources you require for doing it. We guide you through the steps in creating your strategy. Also, we work with you to determine how you will measure and report on the progress and success of your testing.

Automated Testing

You can complete testing of your business processes in a fraction of the time required for manual testing - and without the errors inherent in tedious manual processes.

However, there are situations in which manual testing is necessary. We will review those situations with you to ensure that you choose the right method for each scenario

Testing schedule

We recommend testing each process in iterative short cycles. It gives you the opportunity to evaluate and approve each process as you go. It will speed up configuration and approval and avoid last-minute delays

Resource planning

Is your opportunity to develop how you will staff your testing where you will conduct it and what support you will need. You should include risk analysis, so you have backup plans ready in case essential resources become unavailable

Metrics

We work with you to develop the measures and metrics that will determine the success of your testing strategy and how you evaluate your readiness to go live

Test Development

The second part of the planning phase is to develop your testing plans: scheduling the resources and creating your scripts and scenarios.

Testing plan

Your plan is a permanent component of your project plan. Pixentia provides templates you can use to build it

Testing Scripts

We provide standard scripts for automation, and we have libraries of them you can adapt your processes. We also offer the tools for you to record and create new ones

Scenarios

For manual testing prescribe what the user is expected to do, with descriptions of both expected and unexpected behavior, so you can make sure to prevent users from creating an unrecoverable error. We provide lists of scenarios and support you in developing new ones for your unique processes

Testing Data

Must contain sufficient sample data for every scenario, business process, integration, and learning mode. We work with your vendor to create a safe environment with complete datasets

Test Execution

When you execute your plan, you will run each script and scenario, grouped by function, then evaluate and report on each.

Automated Scripts

Our testing tools allow you to schedule testing for convenient times and automatically track progress and results. Many of them can run overnight unattended and will have reports ready for review the next morning.

Testing Scenarios

Guide your manual testers in a step-by-step process, and each test person will have tracking tools to capture the results for each step

Reporting

Your tracking coordinator will have real-time access to result as they happen, and they can report the results immediately to the project team

Issue Management

Managing the results of your testing requires communication and decision protocols so project managers can achieve the correct response to issues.

Tracking

For automated tests, our testing tools produce reports that show you the results of each process. Many of them can run overnight unattended and will have results ready for review the next morning. Manual testing requires each tester to document the results of each step in the scenarios and report them to the testing coordinator. We provide templates for communicating results.

Triage

Our testing experts work with you to set up communication protocols for handling issues so you can determine whether to stop testing and resolve the problems or continue testing and defer reconfiguration for the next round

Reconfiguration

Our experts work with you to assess the scope of each finding so you can estimate the impact and we can schedule the resources to address it

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

UAT has two purposes: to validate that the configuration meets your business requirements, and to find out if it works for your people. It has a user-centric goal, focused not only on learners, but on administrators, L&D staff, support staff, and business leaders.

Our testing team works with you to provide user checklists for your scenarios, so your testers can document both the behavior of the configuration and their reaction to it

Don’t forget negative testing. Ensuring that your configuration works the way it should is only half the testing. The other half is testing what happens when users make mistakes. Test what happens when they don’t follow the rules

Testing Updates and Upgrades

It will help if you test your LMS whenever you make significant changes, such as adding new functions like e-commerce or extending it to new business.

That includes updates and upgrades. Your vendor tests every change in their software—but they don’t check your configuration, your processes, your security, or your integrations. It’s up to you.

The good news is that once you have your scripts configured, you can reuse them.
